Common mistakes pool owners make
1) Watering down the acid before placing it in the pool
Reason: Tap water has a high pH, watering down the water only makes the total pH stable then placing it in the pool is like placing pure water into the pool and has no effect on the water itself.
2) Under estimating the size of the pool when putting chlorine in
Outcome: Putting too much chlorine into a pool with a low pH will put the water into a chlorine lock and damage the pool and yourself if you swim in it.
3) Running the pool for a short time
Outcome: The pool filtration needs to be run for a certain amount of hours to clean the water.
4) Placing chemicals that contain copper.
Reason: Copper leaves stains around the pool and damages the sand in the filter.
5) Not changing the sand
Outcome: Sand needs to be changed every 18 months to 2 years, if not the sand becomes clumped and may break the filter and not filter the pool properly.
6) The multi-port top and wagon wheel also need to be changed when the sand is changed.
Reason: The wagon wheel becomes worn down and hampers the movement of the multi-port top and may restrict water flow or worse get the system stuck on backwash even if it says filter.
